The
discussion aims to display pre-clinical and clinical evidence suggesting that
Bergamot Polyphenolic Fraction™ (BPF™) represents the unique, well-characterized
bergamot extract able to reduce global cardiometabolic risk.
Day of the presentation: Day 1 - May 9
Location: New Ingredients Theater, Geneve, Palexpo, Vitafoods 23
Time: 11:00 am
Reduction of serum cholesterol is a key objective in the reduction of cardiometabolic risk. Statins and other pharmacological intervention have been shown to produce relevant beneficial effects in reducing LDL cholesterol and, subsequently, in attenuating the increase of morbidity and mortality subsequent to atherothrombotic insult, though the occurrence of disruptive side effects from these drugs remain to be better evaluated. Natural products have been suggested to produce benefits in lowering fat accumulation, thereby playing a role in cardiometabolic disorders, although the possible impacts of their protective effects are still to be elucidated.
Research suggests that BPF™ reduces both tryglicerydes and LDL cholesterol, via multiple action in lipid absorption and metabolism. Additional studies show how BPF™ increases non-atherogenic large LDL and VLDL via enhanced liver performance and metabolic balance. Finally, due to its well-documented antioxidant properties, BPF™ reduces the inflammation of blood vessels, thereby producing a consistent vaso-protection. This sheds new light into the understanding of cardio-protective properties of bergamot-derived nutraceuticals.
