Dumbara Natural Foods is a company that manufactures the unique organic natural sweetener “Kithul” in high-quality, as well as jackfruit-based products in Sri Lanka. Kithul is a palm endemic to Sri Lanka’s rain forests. Botanically it is known as “Caryota Urens”. The Kithul tree provides several uses and is thus a multipurpose tree. The sap obtained by tapping the inflorescence is used to make various edible products including sweet kithul treacle and kithul jaggery. Dumbara aims at supporting the 400 rural farmers in Sri Lanka, uplifting the farming community’s living standards, and offering their children better education. The company assists in maintaining organic plantations, providing relevant know[1]ledge and guarantee to take in their Kithul sap and natural ingredients. The objective is to create better awareness of this hidden valuable ingredient. Kithul is considered as “Liquid Gold” because of its unique taste and low glycemic index value.
