Algae Oil 40 % DHA

Algae Oil 40 % DHA is extracted from Schizochytrium sp., a micro algae. Initially this species of algae was considered a marine fungus, however, today it belongs taxonomically to the Thraustochydrien family. It is a microscopic small unicellular alga, which is found in most coastal regions in the tropics and in moderate climatic zones. It subsists primarily on dead plant material and does not perform photosynthesis. This alga is particularly unique, as it is exceptionally rich in omega-3 fatty acids, especially docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Our Algae Oil 40 % DHA is therefore a very interesting vegan alternative to fish oil.

Areas of application for Foods

• Algae Oils are rich in health-benefiting eicosapentaenoic acid (omega-3, C20:5) and DHA (omega-3, C22:6). As these fatty acids are valuable for maintaining healthy eye sight, cognitive functions and a strong cardio-vascular system, algae oils are often found in dietary supplements.
